Although no one really wants to, it is often necessary to experience failure before finding success. This is almost always true with affiliate marketing, as well as internet marketing in general, as very few succeed straight off the bat!

Being a successful affiliate marketer is all about creating a system that works and then replicating it and eventually automating it. The formula: is Select – Monetize & Systemize – Refine – Automate
Let’s look at each part in more detail.

Select – The first step is to select a niche and a product to promote. This is a vital first step in the affiliate marketing journey. Your campaign must be built on a solid foundation and this means that your niche and product must be well chosen. Choose a niche with hungry buyers and choose a product that is valuable and has a good sales page – this is important because even a good product that has a lousy sales page will not sell well.

Monetize & Systemize – This is the bottom line – the money. And it’s where you’ll start to create your system. Drive traffic, convert sales, repeat. What works? What gets you sales? Whatever it is do more of it, more often and see your sales go up. Then repeat your successful system with a new product, then another and another. Next try the system in a new niche – a good system should work in any niche.

Refine – By now you are earning money and you are beginning to understand where your sales are coming from. It is now time to refine your system so that you have the simplest processes possible, earning the maximum possible income.

All the while you are creating your system you should be experimenting with different techniques and little tweaks. By trying out different methods you will be able to identify the things that work and things that don’t work, things that improve your results. Track everything, record everything, build your system so that you end up with a system that is optimized to pull in the maximum amount of cash possible.

Automate – At this point you hand over everything to outsourcers. Your involvement should be minimal. At this point you will have established an income stream that needs just a little input from you and this will give the time to repeat the process with a second business model/income stream.

Fail Fast, Succeed Faster
Creating an optimized system is a difficult under-taking, particularly for the newcomer to internet marketing. You must be prepared to make mistakes and you must be prepared for depresing failures. However, failure is simply part of the process of creating a working system. You must fail in order to suceed – the only way to tell if something works or not is to try it. Try it, if it works repeat and refine, if it does not work – ditch it and go again.

Too many people give up too quickly, without giving it their best shot, without taking all the necessary steps. I know successful marketers who spent years working on-line without making any money – eventually their desire, persistance and sheer hard work allowed thme to be successful.

The key to the above is speed – act today, fail tomorrow, take more action the following day and so on until you have a winner. Then systemize, refine and automate. The quicker you act, the quicker you fail, the faster you are moving towards internet marketing success.
